A classic viewing of all the Theatreland play houses by night. The authentic commentary, by Ben Shafik - a player himself - gives an authentic feel to the West End's theatres - and is backed by real music.
Next version will be more upbeat as, suggested, to celebrate Britannia's unbeatable heritage.
(Over 6000 viewings and all good reviews to date).

A note from the author

I took these pictures to show off London theatres as they are seen -most often - by theatre goers, at night.

Thanks to Ben Shafik for his lighthearted and informative commentary and Fionn O'Lochlainn for the original music.

Watch out for the new version with current liveries and the names of the theatres as they appear.

Cool Hand Luke

Only a week or so left to catch this play. They aim to close it of the 19th - but its all about money - if they pick up why couldn't it run on? Who knows?

Cool Hand LukeCool Hand Luke was a book and and a film in 1967 and was then made into a play. Its about stimulating the toughman glory in us all by getting revenge for blatant disrespect. Marc Warren has to pull on his past as an actor right across the board from Hustle to early days as a bully.. The part is a tough one because the central character is not a nice man. The Boss is not exactly a sympathetic character either.

"Not only does Luke defy authority, he thrice manages to escape captivity but, although his end is inevitable, he remains a symbol of the unshackled human spirit"
Michael Billington - the Guardian

Right along the chain gang Cool Hand Luke is closely watched by Boss Godfrey. He's been a war hero, is certainly a maverick trouble-maker, and worse he's an inspiration to his fellow inmates who feel invincible with Cool Hand Luke behind - or in front of them. The man who shows every need to control. The Boss tries to crush him.......

Cool Hand Luke is the hard-hitting original true story . He is equally at home displaying cool in the face of brutality such as getting up after a beating, and talking passionately to his fellow inmates. He bets to win and he won't conform no matter what..
